The Model 441T (Hopalong Cassidy Radio) is one of the more sought-after Arvin sets, not so much due to any rarity but rather because it is a cross-over collectible desirable to both radio collectors and collectors of Hopalong Cassidy memorabilia.
It was manufactured in late 1949 and 1950 in the same building (on 13th Street in Columbus, IN) that served as corporate headquarters for Arvin from 1931 until 1989.
The original design, with Hoppy's horse Topper reared onto his hind legs, was discontinued after concerns from the "public" that Hoppy would not treat Topper that way and risk an injury.
Many experts / collectors have tried to assign a relative rarity to the two versions or the two colors, but after seeing hundreds of sets over the years, the varieties seem to be pretty evenly distributed.
