1949 marked a very exciting year for Arvin in the radio industry.  Not only did many new models and styles hit the consumer shelves, but the company itself was on the verge of a name change and a 20-year push to try to become one of the leaders in the business.  One of the more major offereings was their 4-tube chassis that would go into millions of sets over the next few years (including next year's Hopalong Cassidy set.  Another was the introduction of a very small profile tube portable and another line of tube portables  that would become the company's most collectible of this type set.  All in all, it was a great year the company as well as for future radio collectors!
